The Six Kingdoms Research Project

Picture

What is this project all about?
This project is designed to help you discover more about the six kingdoms in biology, and identify the defining characteristics of the organisms in each kingdom.

What should I look for in my research?

-  Are organisms in this kingdom unicellular or multicellular?
-  Does this kingdom contain prokaryotes or eukaryotes?
-  How do organisms in this kingdom obtain food?
-  What are some interesting facts about organisms in this kingdom?
                                                                -  What are some example organisms?
                                                                -  Can I find any pictures of of these organisms?

Where are some good places to look for information?
"textbook" - Characteristics of Life pg. 6
Textbook - Cells, Heredity, and Classification, pgs. 170-175

How do I cite my sources?

Don't forget to use the correct citations for your sources! Remember that if you take words directly from someone else, put them in "quotation marks" AND cite where you got this information from.  Even if you summarize in your own words, you must still cite where you got the ideas. If you plagiarize (copy someone else's words without citing them) it will result in an automatic 0 on your project.

When is this project due?
We will work on this project in class Wednesday - Friday. The project is due Monday, Oct. 3 at the beginning of the class period.
