After finishing symbiosis, we will be moving on to study biodiversity. Biodiversity, short for biological diversity, is the variety of all living things within an ecosystem. We will begin our investigation of biodiversity by doing a tree population study on Timothy's campus using a dichotomous key. After this we will investigate the hypothetical "Bird Island," taking data an analyzing it to determine the biodiversity of the island. Next we will try and determine factors that either cause or hinder biodiversity and some of the consequences of this by using beans to represent trees in different types of forests. Should be a fun and busy week!
