This week we continue our study of ecology by...playing a game! But, this isn't just any game, it's an ecological population study acted out by the students. The data we collect from this game will be analyzed as we study the relationships between living organisms and their non-living environment. After this game, we will read a real-life story, complete with charts, about deer populations in the U.S. We will use the charts to create graphs, modeling deer population growth and decline. This, in addition with an article about factors affecting bird populations, will give supports to our argument that biotic and abiotic factors greatly impact the populations in an ecosystem. On Friday we will begin looking a little closer at the relationship between different populations and creating a diagram to model the connections between them. It's gonna be a fun and busy week!
